Emergency

Call 112. Calling for help is required by law (German Criminal Code § 323c). levelll cannot promise immunity from criminal or administrative consequences.

Immediate

  1. 1. Get the person out of the crowd immediately. Don't treat them in the middle of the dancefloor.
  2. 2. Recovery position in a quiet, cooler area. Check breathing.
  3. 3. Call 112 if the person is not responsive within 30 seconds, breathing stays shallow, or unusual symptoms appear.

Don't do

  • Don't leave the person alone, not even 'until help arrives'.
  • Don't try to 'shake them awake' with water in the face — risk of choking.
  • Don't try to take stairs or exits with the person as long as they aren't stable.

A collapse in the club can have many causes — usually a combination:

  • Heat + dehydration (see separate scenarios)
  • Stimulant hyperthermia
  • Hyponatremia with MDMA + lots of water
  • GHB/GBL G-lock
  • Alcohol intoxication, possibly with other sedatives
  • Vasovagal syncope from exhaustion

Telling them apart isn’t relevant in the moment — the first 60 seconds are triage:

  1. Breathing okay? If no: respiratory arrest protocol.
  2. Responsive? If no: recovery position and 112.
  3. Responsive, but pale/hot/confused? Out of the heat, cool down, observe.

In Berlin clubs, most awareness teams (e.g. SONAR-trained) are trained for these situations. If they’re on site: talk to awareness instead of doing triage yourself.

Police note (D-002): Rendering assistance is a duty under § 323c StGB (German Criminal Code). levelll cannot rule out prosecution, but anyone who gets help is acting within the law.
