Alcohol and MDMA both dehydrate while pulling thirst and judgment in opposite directions. Alcohol also blunts the empathogenic effect and invites redosing.
Clinical consequences:
- Hyperthermia risk rises with dancing and reduced heat awareness
- Dehydration and next-day crash intensify
- Panic can spike as the MDMA fades into an alcohol crash
- Redosing becomes more likely because the roll feels weaker
Practical risk reduction: keep alcohol low or skip it, sip water with salt, take cool breaks, and do not chase a muted roll with more MDMA. Points of contact: local drug checking projects and Deutsche Aidshilfe.
